Winter Survival
Join Senior Researcher Dr. Jason Mancini and Museum educators Toni Weeden and James Jones (Mashantucket Pequot) on the Farmstead as they demonstrate basic winter survival skills. Discuss what foods were commonly dried or smoked for winter use, and how those foods were prepared. Learn to identify common animal tracks and other signs often encountered in your back yard. Dr. Mancini leads a winter ethnobotany walk with aspiring foragers starting at 1 pm on the Farmstead. Learn about important foods for winter survival. Sample some food and beverages. Dress appropriately for the weather and bring your snowshoes if there is sufficient snow on the ground. Call (800) 411-9671 or email rsvp@pequotmuseum.org by Jan. 15 to register for the walk. Free with Museum admission, free to Museum members.Tell a Friend
