Program Prioritization for Strategic Decision MakingThis workshop focuses on aligning an organization’s programs with its mission, identifying the financial impacts of each program, and ensuring that each program has measurable outcomes. In addition, this workshop reviews the way in which management and the board of directors should be using this information to make strategic, long term decisions to build a high impact, sustainable organization.The workshop covers:· Eight step process for evaluating and prioritizing programs· Output v. Outcome measurement approaches· Strategies for developing outcomes· Key Indicator Report· Board and management roles and responsibilities in strategic decision makingThe presenters:Barry SeltserDr. Seltser is a researcher, consultant and manager with twenty five years of experience in government and nonprofit organizations. He has extensive expertise in the assessment and development of performance measures as well as project management and evaluation. Barry is the former director of Center for Design, Methods, and Analysis at the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) and the former Vice President for Research and Evaluation at the National Center on Family Homelessness. As an independent consultant and researcher, Barry has provided design and analysis assistance on projects to organizations including the Office of Personnel Management, U. S. Department of Agriculture, Internal Revenue Service, Parenting Resource Associates, National Cathedral School and Advocates for Human Potential.Michael StauffMr. Stauff, an ESC consultant for nine years has been involved with non-profit organizations in education, health care, community development and other services, specifically in strategic management and board development efforts. Mike serves on the Board at ESC as well as at Julie’s Family Learning Program. Mike is the former Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for TranSwitch Corporation. He has great experience in creating and managing systems and controls necessary to support rapidly growing organizations at both public and private companies.
