Please join us for our free, guided kayak/canoe paddles on Thursdays. We will pass various local conservation lands, including some of our own Westerly Land Trust preserves. We’ll stop for a swim on some of the trips! These paddles are between 1 ½ to 3 hours long. Bring your own kayak/canoe, paddle, life jacket, whistle, water, snacks, etc. We will shuttle vehicles at 9:30 AM unless stated to the contrary. Please arrive early: our trips leave promptly.
Put in on left bank below the bridge. The Wood River runs deep and the current is steady along this stretch. We’ll pass some marshy areas that are perfect for bird watching. The mountain laurel is spectacular sight in June. Below Woodville the river makes a sharp turn to the left. The dead end millrace runs straight ahead. Meet by the bridge and dam on Woodville Road in Woodville. Takeout is at Alton Dam. Visit www.westerlylandtrust.org for details.
