Pachaug River and Beachdale Pond – Voluntown, CT
Join us for our free, guided kayak/canoe paddles on Thursdays. We will pass through various local conservation lands, including some of our own Westerly Land Trust preserves. The paddle times will be between 1 ½ to 3 hours. We will meet at put in points and carpool to takeout sites unless otherwise stated. Be aware that our trips leave promptly Bring your own kayak/canoe, paddle, life jacket, whistle, water, snacks, etc. Some of us will go swimming. See www.westerlylandtrust.org for more details.
We will launch @ 10:00 AM – no car shuttle. From I-395, Exit 85, go east on Rte 138 for about 6.5 miles, and turn left onto Rte 49 North. Access is on the right in 0.7 mile just after crossing over the Pachaug River bridge. From Hope Valley area go west on Rte 138 and turn right onto Rte 49 North. Access is on the right in 0.7 mile just after crossing over the Pachaug River bridge. From Westerly: get to CT Rte 2 and turn right onto Rte 49 in Pawcatuck (at a traffic light before the new Stop & Shop). Stay on Rte 49 until you come into Voluntown (about 15 miles). At stop sign turn right – this puts you on Rtes 165 & 49. Turn left at Rte 49 North. Access is on the right in 0.7 mile just after crossing over the Pachaug River bridge.Tell a Friend
