The 2nd Annual Southeastern Connecticut 40 Under Forty Award celebration will be held on Friday, January 10, 2014, 6pm, at MGM Grand at Foxwoods Resort Casino. This event honors citizens of southeastern Connecticut under the age of forty who consistently demonstrate excellence in their profession, as well as leadership, commitment, and service to the region.
The Southeastern Connecticut 40 Under Forty Awards are produced as a joint effort between the Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce, Greater Westerly-Pawcatuck Area Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Norwich Area Chamber of Commerce and The Day.
Nomination Criteria and Guidelines
To be eligible for a Southeastern Connecticut 40 Under Forty Award, the individual must meet the following requirements:
• The Nominee must not have reached forty years of age by January 1, 2014.
• The Nominee must work and/or reside in the Southeastern Connecticut region.
• Nominee must be present to accept the award on January 10, 2014, 6 p.m., at MGM Grand at Foxwoods Resort Casino
• The individual must have demonstrated selfless service and commitment to the southeastern CT community.
• The individual must have demonstrated leadership initiatives that improve the quality of life in the southeastern CT community. Some examples include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Promoting collaborative efforts that benefit the community and/or solve community problems
2. Developing creative usage of historic site or re-use of underutilized structure that enhances the local economy
3. Establishing a new program or event that contributes to the quality of life in southeastern Connecticut
4. Overcoming a significant obstacle or tragedy and turned the situation into something positive for the community
5. Undertaking measures to foster a program to encourage local shopping
6. Creating a positive work environment that promotes professional and personal growth
7. Achieving professional excellence within their industry while balancing extensive community service
