"Ninigret, Sachem of the Niantics and Narragansetts: Diplomacy, War, and the Balance of Power in Seventeenth-Century New England and Indian Country"
On October 5 at 2:00 pm, co-authors David J. Silverman and Julie A. Fisher will speak about their new book on the sachem Ninigret published this summer by Cornell University Press.
This program is free and open to the public. Programs are held in the carriage house of the Babcock-Smith House Museum, 124 Granite Street, Westerly.
Julie A. Fisher is an advanced graduate student in history at the University of Delaware. David J. Silverman is Professor of History at George Washington University and the author of Red Brethren: The Brothertown and Stockbridge Indians and the Problem of Race in Early America (2010) and Faith and Boundaries: Colonists, Christianity, and Community among the Wampanoag Indians of Martha's Vineyard, 1600-1871 (2005).
