Description
Plein Air Painting throughout Westerly, Watch Hill, Misquamicut and Pawcatuck; artist demonstrations in the gallery during regular hours. Plein Air is a manner or style of painting developed chiefly in France in the mid-19th century in which artists paint outside. This technique aims to capture the luminous effects of natural light and atmosphere or “air” in a painting as contrasted with the artificial conditions associated with paintings produced in the studio.
Participating artists include: Donna Mazzone, Nancy Gardner, Suzan Lifschitz and Karen Dodez. During this time painters will be in Wilcox Park, Watch Hill, on Elm Street, around Winnapaug Pond and in the Misquamicut area. Additionally, all are welcome on September 24th from 1-2 PM for award winning artist Diane Brown’s demonstration of painting with cold wax and oil. Diane is also the featured artist for September and many of her paintings will be on exhibit throughout the month.
Finished work from the “Live Art Event” will be on exhibit during ACGOW’s October show and silent auction bidding will take place all month. Winning bidders will be contacted on October 30th.
