Chelsea Groton Bank and the North Stonington Affordable Housing Committee are producing and sponsoring a homebuyer expo. The event will be held at Wheeler High School on Tuesday, May 19 at 5:30 p.m. and will include a 30-minute presentation on home buying, as well as an opportunity to meet with loan originators from Chelsea Groton Bank, representatives from North Stonington’s Affordable Housing Committee, local realtors and builders. Information about first time homebuyer and down payment assistance programs will also be provided.
“So often, people are interested in the idea of buying a home instead of renting, but they don’t know where to turn for guidance on the specific steps that must occur prior to, during and following purchasing a home,” said Pam Days-Luketich, Community Education Officer for Chelsea Groton Bank. “We are happy to provide interested homebuyers with an opportunity to meet with local experts so they can make well-informed decisions in the future.”
The home buying presentation will include the key steps to purchasing a home from start to finish. It will address available options, specifically for first-time homebuyers and how mortgage financing, underwriting and the approval process works. Attendees will gain insight into whether or not homeownership is right for them and they will be made aware of the pitfalls to avoid.
