Charter Oak Federal Credit Union will be offering free shredding services to the community on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at two branch locations: 625 Long Hill Road in Groton and One Connecticut Avenue in Norwich from 9:00 a.m. until noon.
Charter Oak hosts an annual Shred Day event to educate and protect the public from the risks of identity theft. Shredding old bank statements, expired credit cards and credit card offers are among the many ways in which individuals can prevent identity theft. Furthermore, paper shredding is an ecofriendly way to destroy documents containing personal information.
In addition to offering free shredding services, Charter Oak will be collecting non-perishable food items for local food pantries, including the Gemma E. Moran United Way Labor Food Center. The Food Center is one of three food banks in Connecticut and distributes more than two million pounds of donated food annually to food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, child care centers, community meal sites, and programs for the elderly.
To accommodate as many individuals as possible, a three-box limit will be enforced. For more information about Charter Oak Federal Credit Union’s free Shred Day, visit www.CharterOak.org or call 860-446-8085.Tell a Friend
