FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
8TH Annual Silent Auction and Gala Reception at ACGOW
Art lovers all over the region are sharpening their bidding strategies for the 8th Annual Silent Auction and Gala Reception at The Artists’ Cooperative Gallery of Westerly. Bidding starts June 26th and ends with a Gala Reception and Final Bidding on July 3rd from 5 to 7 PM, accompanied by lavish hors d’oeuvres created by local restaurants, and live music.
Imagine enjoying a 2-hour cocktail and hors d’oeuvre cruise aboard the 74-foot Aphrodite, a beautifully restored Long Island commuter yacht originally launched in 1937. This and many other auction items including six months of uplifting yoga classes at High Street Yoga, artwork of all kinds, and over 100 items donated by local businesses, will be on display at the Gallery from June 26thth through the final heated moments of the Gala Reception and Final Bidding on July 3rd.
“Morning Reflection,” a framed photograph by Ardie Harrison capturing the tranquil beauty of early morning on the river in Mystic, will be raffled off during the Gala Reception. Raffle tickets can be purchased at the Gallery during the month prior.
From art to once-in-a-lifetime experiences, everyone from chefs to travelers and golfers to gardeners will find something tempting to bid on. Bid tickets for those who have not donated an item to the Silent Auction will be $5.00 at the Gallery on July 3rd. No charge to bid during the week prior.
All are invited to enjoy a fun-filled evening, support the arts, and help celebrate the beginning of the Artists’ Cooperative Gallery’s third decade of sharing art with the community.
The cruise aboard the Aphrodite has been graciously donated by Deborah and Chuck Royce, who completely restored the elegant vessel that once hosted guests including Katherine Hepburn and Shirley Temple. The six months of yoga classes inspired by Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga at High Street Yoga have been generously donated by Tamsy Markham.
Following the Silent Auction will be a new show, “Artists’ Favorites” which runs from July 4th through August 4th. The show features paintings, pottery, photographs, glass, fabric, sculpture and more by member artists. And, as always at the Artists’ Cooperative, shopping is tax-free.
The Gala Reception for the Silent Auction will be held in conjunction with the monthly first Wednesday Night Art Stroll in downtown Westerly and Pawcatuck, when shops, galleries and restaurants will be open.
And don’t miss the new show at the Back Room Art Gallery (BRAG), featuring work by members of the Ninigret Art Guild. The show opens with a special reception on Sunday, June 30th from 2-4 PM. The Ninigret Art Guild has been creating art as a group since 1995 in Charlestown, Rhode Island.
The Artists’ Cooperative Gallery of Westerly is located at 7 Canal Street in downtown Westerly, RI. The Gallery is open Wednesday through Saturday 11AM to 7PM and Sunday, 1-5PM. Please call 401-596-2221 with any questions, and/or visit www.westerlyarts.com or our FaceBook page for information about the show, ACGOW and its artists.
