Award Background:
Our wonderful region continues to buzz with energy, passion, optimism and opportunity. Southern Rhode Island is without a doubt the best region to experience unparalleled natural beauty, a rich and lively arts and cultural scene, outstanding local cuisine with flare, and a resilient entrepreneurial spirit. In all instances, the driving force behind this momentum is the people.
We are very fortunate to have so many talented, committed and entrepreneurial people who care not only about growing our economy, but also about giving back and paving the way for future generations. Please join us as we recognize 40 individuals who are making tremendous contributions to our community and the lives of their fellow citizens. It is because of these dedicated people that southern Rhode Island will continue to thrive and to be an amazing place to work and live. The 40 Brightest Stars of Southern Rhode Island Committee invites you to be a vital part of recognizing the achievements of those that are working to make our community stronger!
The 40 Brightest Stars of Southern Rhode Island celebration will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2014, 6pm, at the Village Inn, Narragansett, Rhode Island. This event honors southern Rhode Islanders who consistently demonstrate excellence in their profession, as well as leadership, commitment, and service to the region.
The Awards are produced as a joint effort between the United Chambers of Southern Rhode Island and So Rhode Island.
Nomination Criteria and Guidelines
To be eligible for a 40 Brightest Stars of Southern Rhode Island Award, the individual must meet the following requirements:
- The Nominee must work and/or reside in the southern Rhode Island region: Block Island, Charlestown, East Greenwich, Exeter, Hopkinton, Narragansett, North Kingstown, Richmond, South Kingstown and Westerly.
- Nominee must be present to accept the award on February 6, 2014.
- The individual must have demonstrated selfless service and commitment to the southern RI community.
- The individual must have demonstrated leadership initiatives that improve the quality of life in the southern RI community such. Gala Tickets: General Admission Tickets $60.00. Seating is limited and maximum attendance is 220. RSVP by January 31, 2014. Price includes the Award Program from 6:00-6:50 pm and the celebration from 6:50-9:30 which includes tastings, networking, and dancing to live music. Cash bar.
IMPORTANT DATES & DEADLINES: To nominate someone for a Southern Rhode Island 40 Brightest Stars Award, complete the nomination form available at Unitedchambersri.com or on the websites of any of the 5 participating southern Rhode Island chambers of commerce.
Nominations Open: October 16, 2013
Nominations Close: November 19, 2013, Noon
Winners Notified: November 22, 2013
Award Celebration: Thursday, February 6, 2014, 6:00pm
All nominations must be completed and received by November 19, 12noon, at any one of the 5 partner chambers of commerce in southern Rhode Island: Block Island Chamber of Commerce, Charlestown Chamber of Commerce, Greater Westerly-Pawcatuck Area Chamber of Commerce, Narragansett Chamber of Commerce, and North Kingstown Chamber of Commerce. Exceptions to these guidelines will not be considered.
Nominations Judging: The Nominations Committee will tackle the difficult job of selecting forty finalists from an expected field of more than one hundred nominations. The Judges committee consists of respected and accomplished members of the southern Rhode Island community. All applications will first be certified as having been submitted completely and meeting the criteria. Next, all applications will be reviewed and given individual scores for professional achievements and for community involvement. The committee will meet and discuss each application and vote on the final 40 selected honorees.
The Award:
Each honoree receives, at a minimum:
-1 complimentary admission to the 40 Brightest Stars of Southern Rhode Island Award gala on February 6, 2014
- An attractive, personalized award
-Recognition in the event program
-Recognition via power point presentation during the celebration
-Expanded bio on the SO Rhode Island website
- Invaluable bragging rights!
