Enjoy light bites and wine while learning about the life of Samuel Ward, a prominent colonial leader and patriot associated with Westerly, Rhode Island. After settling here as a farmer and landowner in what is today, Weekapaug, he became active in public service, representing Westerly in the Rhode Island General Assembly and later serving as Governor of Rhode Island.
Discussion led by Jean Gelo Gagnier, a URI graduate with a degree in history and a passion for the subject, is a former Westerly Town Council member, Westerly Planning Board member, and one of the founding members of Bricks and Murals. He also serves as an instructor for the University of Rhode Island’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute and lectures locally on early American history.
