Special holiday activities, workshops and programs will be hosted at Mystic Seaport December 26, 2010, through January 2, 2011, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Visitors are invited to enjoy a holiday season of long ago as they stroll through the Museum’s decorated 19th-century village, hear stories of seafaring Christmases told aboard historic vessels, join chanteymen in singing songs of the sea and season, try their hand at candle dipping at the Buckingham-Hall House and more.
Children can make a souvenir toy at St. Nicholas’ Workshop, build a keepsake at the Gingerbread Blast Workshop and create their own take-home vessel at the Toy Boat Workshop. Both workshops include a $5 fee.
Historical magician E.A. Davis will present his authentic 19th-century magic show at the Greenmanville Church daily at 1 and 3:15 p.m., and the Treworgy Planetarium will host the free program "The Star of Bethlehem" daily at 2 p.m.
Additionally, visitors of all ages are invited to discover the Museum’s newest indoor activity space, Pastimes and Playthings, to try their hand at 19th-century toys, parlor games and tavern puzzles. Classic children’s books and a craft corner complete this cozy space.
