Learn how to identify several common invasive plants and how they are being controlled at Coogan Farm without the use of synthetic herbicides. We will visit areas around the property where solarization or smothering have been used for site preparation before replanting with native pollinator-friendly plants and learn what follow-up is needed to prevent re-infestation when the surrounding weed pressure is high. This program will include a hands-on activity to allow participants to help with selective removal of invasive plants from recently planted or recovering areas. Bring garden gloves, hand pruners, and your favorite hand digging tool.
Preregistration is required. This program is outdoors and may be cancelled in inclement weather. Program takes place at Coogan Farm. Meet by the Avery Welcome Center.
