Interested in starting a composting business? We have gathered the resources and experts you need to find out if this is the right business opportunity for you. State legislative mandates, the Johnston landfill nearing capacity, and new revenue markets for compost have created a market opportunity in Rhode Island estimated at $50 million for entrepreneurs to pursue. The session will address revenue opportunities, "true composting" standards, the pros and cons of composting methods, regulations and the interconnectedness of the food waste support system. This the first in a series.
Speaker(s): Panelist will include Alan Gillespie, USDA NRCS; Frank Jacques, Center for Sustainable Organic Agriculture; and Mark Dennen, RI DEM.
