Maritime Gallery at Mystic Seaport to Open 33rd Annual Spring Exhibition and Sale April 29
Modern Marine Masters to Feature Leading Contemporary Maritime Artists
 
Mystic, Conn. – The Maritime Gallery at Mystic Seaport is proud to open its 2012 season with the 33rd Annual Spring Exhibition and Sale, Modern Marine Masters on Sunday, April 29. The Exhibition celebrates the timeless beauty of the sea and ships with contemporary art created by award-winning artists from around the globe.
On display will be original paintings, drawings, sculpture, scrimshaw and models from more than 50 of today’s leading maritime artists. Viewers will see varying interpretations of the sea, including classic racing yachts, elegant modern vessels, working boats and those who make their living from the sea, scenes of busy harbors, and paintings of serene beaches.
                More than 75 works of art will be exhibited and available for purchase. Featured artists include Ian Hansen, James Harrington, Victor Mays, and Cean Youngs.
               “It is with great enthusiasm that we present this exhibition, Modern Marine Masters.  Since our first spring show 33 years ago, the Maritime Gallery has developed professional relationships with a group of distinguished artists who continue to produce the best in contemporary marine art from around the world today.  This is a must see for lovers of art that portrays the maritime experience,” said Jeanne Potter, Director of the Maritime Gallery.
Modern Marine Masters will be open through June 10, 2012. 
The Maritime Gallery is currently open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free.
