The Artists Cooperative Gallery of Westerly is proud to host the 2011 RISCA Fellowship Exhibition. Rhode Island's State Council of the Arts (RISCA's) annual showcase of work by the winners of it's Fellowship Grants is an important exhibition that features creativity in many different mediums by members of Rhode Island's artistic community.

Fellowships encourage the creative development of artists by enabling them to set aside time to pursue their work and achieve specific creative and career goals. Artists are encouraged to apply when they have created a substantial body of work that they are prepared to present for consideration and Fellowships are highly competitive awards that are granted based upon recommendations of a panel of judges in each specific artistic discipline that review each applicant's work in that discipline. Fellowship grants acknowledge the work of Rhode Island's finest artists in a variety of art.. The artist members of ACGOW are pleased to welcome recipients of RISCA's Fellowship Awards in FY2011 and their work into their Gallery in Westerly.


The Opening Reception will be held on THURSDAY February 3 from 5PM to 8PM hosted by RISCA and the Artists of the Artists Cooperative. Refreshments will be served. Visual artists work will include drawings and printmaking by Sue McNally, paintings by Thomas Lyon Mills, and the photography of Victoria Crayton, among others. Works by choreographers Mark Harootian and France Hunter, composers Michael DeQuattro and Chrissy Wohlpert, and filmmakers Lorelei Pepi and Daniel Sousa will be represented in the Gallery via video and music stations.

A Fellowship Writer's Night will be held on Friday evening, February 11 from 6:30PM to 8:30PM at the Gallery, featuring readings of recent works by 2011 Fellowship Award winners in literature, Lawrence Goodman, Catherine Lubriguo, Peter Johnson, Marie Myung-Ok Lee, Bill Thomas and Max Winter, along with a presentation of entertainment by Fellowship Folk Artist winners.

On Saturday, February 19 from 3PM to 5PM please come to the Gallery for an end of show event featuring discussions by Fellowship Award Winners about their work and their individual creative process. Refreshments will be served and entertainment provided by Fellowship Folk Art Award winners.

The Artists Cooperative Gallery of Westerly is located at 7 Canal Street in Westerly, RI. Gallery hours are from Tuesday through Saturday from 10AM to 5PM and on Friday evenings from 5PM to 8PM or by chance.
