SUMMARY:Westerly Land Trust Thursday Hike at Black Farm\, Hopkinton
DESCRIPTION:Join the Westerly Land Trust on our free-guided trail walks on Thursday mornings. We will visit various local conservation properties\, including some of our Westerly Land Trust preserves.  Walks are between 1   to 3 hours and are open to all ages with our target group being agile seniors.  Please keep in mind that these are wooded trails with stumps\, roots and rocks so be sure to wear hiking boots or good walking shoes. Be aware that our hikes leave promptly\, so please arrive on time.\n\n\n\nDecember 24  Black Farm\, Hopkinton \n\n           \n\nBlack Farm is a State Fish & Wildlife preserve. From the intersection with Rte 91 at Alton dam go north on the Woodville-Alton road 2 miles OR from I-95\, Exit #2 go south 1.3 miles on the Woodville-Alton road. The sign and parking area are on the east side of the road. Park close - there's not much room. This is a glorious little area bordered by the Wood River. It is hilly with both deciduous and pine forest. There is a cemetery and foundations\, a stream\, several bridges and a kettle hole pond. The loop is about 3 miles long. \n\n \n\n\nPLEASE NOTE:\n\nInclement weather cancels and if in doubt\, contact leader. \n\nIf the weather is icy you should bring stabilizers or something for traction. If a lot of snow bring snowshoes. \n\nFLUORESCENT ORANGE REQUIREMENTS:\n\nIn State Management areas everyone is required to wear 200 square inches of solid daylight fluorescent orange from the second Saturday in September to the last day of February and the last Thursday in April to the last day in May\, annually. However\, 500 sq. inch by all hunters (including archers) and all users of management areas and undeveloped state parks during all portions of shotgun deer seasons.
