DESCRIPTION:PROJECT OCEANOLOGY\n\nMARINE SCIENCE SUMMER CAMP OPEN HOUSE SATURDAY\, APRIL 18\n\n\n\nAvery Point / On the campus of the University of Connecticut\n\n1084 Shennecossett Road / Groton\, CT 06340\n\nwww.oceanology.org / 860.445.9007 / 800.364.8472\n\n\n\n\n(April 18\, 2015) GROTON -- The public is invited to come aboard dockside Project Oceanology's research vessel\, check out its laboratories and explore the shore during its summer camp open house Saturday\, April 18. \n\n\n\nThe free event\, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.\, features information about Project Oceanology's ocean-rich summer camps and offers opportunities to touch sea creatures\, create fish prints and discover the world under the waves of Long Island Sound. Prizes also will be given to students who follow Project O treasure maps and successfully complete a marine science scavenger hunt.\n\n\n\nStudents and their families will learn about Ocean Camp\, a weeklong residential camp for grades 5 through 12. Campers immerse themselves in all the elements of hands-on\, brains-on marine science. They also cruise the waters of Long Island Sound\, conduct oceanographic research and study salt marshes\, rocky intertidal zones and more.\n\n\n\nThe open house also offers detailed information about its Ocean Explorer Academy for younger students in grades 4 through 6. Campers roll up their sleeves at this weeklong day camp\, exploring Long Island Sound and discovering the vital role that habitats play in the local coastal ecosystems.\n\n\n\nThe event takes place at Project Oceanology's waterfront headquarters on the Groton campus of the University of Connecticut at Avery Point\, 1084 Shennecossett Road.
