SUMMARY:Nikoletta Nousiopoulos (Penelope’s Dream Almanac) Author Talk and Signing
DESCRIPTION:Bank Square Books presents an author talk and signing with Nikoletta Nousiopoulos for the book\, Penelope's Dream Almanac.\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Book\n\nPenelope's Dream Almanac by Nikoletta Nousiopoulos is a visceral collection of poetry and lyrical prose that merges Homeric and contemporary worlds. Her words weave allusions to mythology\, dreamscapes\, and astrology\, heightening the reader's sensory delight. In order to question archetypal roles within the female experience\, Nousiopoulos draws from real dreams recorded over a decade to assemble her almanac\, the alchemical tool of poetry. For the poet\, as for Penelope\, creativity survives despite the subtleties of misogyny. \n\nAbout the Author\n\nNikoletta Nousiopoulos is a poet\, writer\, and educator residing in Southeastern Connecticut with her husband\, fiction writer Daniel Giovinazzo\, and their three young children. In 2009\, Nousiopoulos received her MFA in Creative Writing: Poetry from New England College. She works as an academic advisor and instructor in the Thames college transition program at Mitchell College\, and she also teaches college composition at York Correctional Institution\, Connecticut's only prison for women. Deeply involved in the campus creative community\, she serves on the literary board for the Mitchell Literary Review and acts as the faculty advisor to The Thames Review\, both of which are college journals dedicated to publishing student work.\n\nNousiopoulos was awarded a 2026 Poet & Author Fellowship from the Martha's Vineyard Institute of Creative Writing. She is the author of the debut collection all the dead goats (Little Red Tree Publishing)\, and her poetry has appeared in numerous print and digital journals\, including The Fairy Tale Review\, Tammy\, ethel\, Whiskey Island\, American Religion\, antiphony\, tiny spoon\, and Peach Mag.
