DESCRIPTION:New England Science & Sailing (NESS) Foundation will host the Mystic Whaler Shanty Night on Thursday\, August 6\, at 7:30pm at 70 Water Street. Don Sineti\, the Sea Shantyman\, will perform a variety of folk songs ranging from sea chanteys to instrumentals. Historically\, sea shanties were performed on large sailing vessels and sung by merchant sailors while they worked.\nMystic Whaler Shanty Night is open to the public with a $5 suggested donation. All proceeds benefit NESS programs. For more information\, call 860.535.9362.\nNew England Science & Sailing Foundation\, Inc. (NESS)\, a nonprofit 501(c)(3)\, provides year-round ocean adventure education programs that engage students in experiential learning that builds confidence\, teamwork\, and leadership skills. Marine sciences\, adventure sports\, and sailing are catalysts for teaching life skills\, academic discipline\, and respect and responsibility for the sea.
