DESCRIPTION:Mystic Seaport Offers Free Admission for Teachers during Educators Weekend\n\nTwo Days of Special Programs for Educators on April 16-17\n\n \n\nMystic\, Conn. ~ Educators and their families   up to four people total   will be admitted for free into Mystic Seaport during Educators Weekend April 16-17.\n\nTeachers\, administrators\, and support staff are welcome. Free admission will be granted upon presentation of a school or union ID\, business card\, or a copy of school letterhead.\n\nThe ninth annual event is part of the Museum's efforts to assist teachers in reaching their classroom goals and to strengthen the partnership between schools and museums. An Education Information Center will be open from 11:00 a.m.   2:00 p.m. each day offering details about the Museum's programs\, tours\, and hands-on experiences that are available year-round for field trips\, outreach\, and group visits.\n\n"Education is a key part of the mission of Mystic Seaport and our efforts to teach people about the importance of this country's maritime heritage. The access we can provide educators to our extensive collection of primary source materials is so important to effective learning and research\," said Mystic Seaport President Steve White. "We want to assist educators in their efforts to teach our children\, and we want to thank them for the hard work they do."\n\nSpecial offerings include a science-based Weather Tour\, an opportunity to learn about life in 1876 with a costumed Mystic Seaport role player\, special tours of the Henry B. duPont Preservation Shipyard and the restoration of the 1841 whaleship Charles W. Morgan\, and multiple showings of the Treworgy Planetarium's seasonal program "Spring Stars and the Mariner."
