SUMMARY:Horseshoe Crab Community Science Program - Project Limulus
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our 20th year participating in Project Limulus\, a scientific survey tracking horseshoe crab populations. Experience these "living fossils" up close while contributing valuable data to this long-term research program\n\n\n\n\nParticipate in this important conservation effort\, should be prepared for the physical demands of the survey.\n\n\n	Due to the nature of surveying\; you must be at least 12 years old to volunteer.\n	A maximum of 6 volunteers can join us per survey.\n	Please sign up for no more than 3 survey dates to allow others to participate.\n	Surveys are conducted during the high tide of new and full moons during May\, June\, and July\, as this time is when horseshoe crabs are most likely to come ashore to spawn.\n	Survey includes two miles of walking\, often in about 1 ft of water. The surveys can last anywhere from 1.5 hours to 4 hours\, depending on the number of horseshoe crabs along the shore. We can see 0 or 1\,000!\n	Participants will be emailed with survey logistics after registration.\n	Find out more about Project Limulus: https://www.sacredheart.edu/academics/colleges--schools/college-of-arts--sciences/departments--schools/biology/project-limulus/\n\n\n \n\nWe also offer two Horseshoe Crab Family Walks that are more suitable for young children. They are on Saturdays May 30\, June 13 & June 27 from 9:00 AM - 10:00AM
