Tallent will be interviewed by Rabbit Cake author Annie Hartnett and will sign books following the discussion. Join us for this conversation between two of the literary scene's new voices. Everyone is welcome!\n\n\n\nAbout My Absolute Darling\n\nTurtle Alveston is a survivor. At fourteen\, she roams the woods along the northern California coast with the creeks\, tide pools\, and rocky islands as her haunts and hiding grounds. But while her physical world is expansive\, her personal one is small and treacherous. Motivated by her first experience with real friendship and a teenage crush\, Turtle starts to imagine escape\, using the very survival skills her father devoted himself to teaching her. Turtle's physical and emotional courage grows\, as she struggles to become her own hero. My Absolute Darling is a brilliant and immersive\, all-consuming read about one girl's heart-stopping fight for her own soul.\nAbout Gabriel Tallent\n\nSalt Lake City's Gabriel Tallent was born in New Mexico and raised on the Mendocino coast by two mothers. He received his B.A. from Willamette University in 2010\, and subequently spent two seasons leading trail crews for the Northwest Youth Corps in the backcountry of the Pacific Northwest. His stories have been published in Narrative and in the St Petersburg Review. My Absolute Darling is his debut novel.\n\n\n\nAbout Annie Hartnett\n\nAnnie Hartnett's debut novel\, Rabbit Cake\, has been selected as an Indies Introduce and an Indie Next Pick\, and has received starred reviews from Publisher's Weekly\, Kirkus\, and Library Journal. Annie is a 2013 graduate of the MFA program at the University of Alabama\, and was the 2013-2014 Writer-in-Residence for the Associates of the Boston Public Library. She currently teaches classes on the novel and the short story at Grub Street\, an independent writing center in Boston. Annie lives in Providence.
