An opening reception for the show will be held Sunday\, Sept. 8th\, from 2PM to 4PM.\n\nThe Fast Shutters group began as a class in Creative Photography hosted by a New London\, CT gallery. Currently mentored by ACGOW member John Fast\, classes are held several times a year. This exhibit is the first opportunity Fast Shutters has had to display their images as a group.\n\nParticipants in the seminar-like classes include photographers of all skill levels\, including some whose work has been published and exhibited in New London galleries. "The only prerequisite\," says mentor John Fast\, "is a love for photography\, the pleasure of sharing images with one another and the desire to improve their own skills. Participants learn from a review of their own images as well as fellow participants' images."\n\nOn why he enjoys mentoring the Fast Shutters group\, Fast says "I have enjoyed a life-long pursuit of photography\, specializing in wildlife and scenic images. I have instructed in photography\, digital photography and Photoshop in various venues in the Southeast Connecticut area. The Fast Shutters group gives me the personally rewarding opportunity to share my knowledge with and learn from participants in a relaxed and informal setting."\n\nClasses usually consisting of eight meetings each are held several times a year and are currently held every other week. Topics covered include subject selection\, composition and technical execution. Participating photographers complete assignments for each class and share the images with the group\, and an open and informal discussion is encouraged. "Constructive ideas by group members on image enhancement help develop a better insight on how images can be improved\," says Fast\, "and often foster the important concept that there is no universal standard for a 'good' image."\n\nOn display in the main galleries\, September's show "An Artist Remembers" connects past and present in work by featured artists Ardie Harrison\, a photographer\, and wood and metal sculptor Mark A.
